Inside Pearl Properties

Designed by DAS Architects

December 6, 2018 | by Tim Gerber

             Office Spotlight: 110 S 19th St

Das Architects finished the Philadelphia office design for Pearl Properties in 2017. We were very impressed and reached out to DAS Architects to find out more.

What’s the first thing someone would notice in this office?

DAS Architects

When arriving at the Pearl Properties office – You come upon the reception desk area including the angular desk and the backdrop of steel sculpture, which are fashioned out of the trusses that once were inside The Boyd Theater on Chestnut Street.

What does this office say about the company you designed it for?

DAS Architects

Because Pearl Properties is one of the premier real estate investment, development and management firms in Philadelphia, DAS was tasked with making sure the office design reflected a modern and forward-thinking sensibility without feeling stuffy or formal. This translated into a palette of basic neutrals and vibrant colors, subtle textures, readily available materials, and unexpected angles to animate the space.

Describe the layout of this office. How does this office design encourage creativity, productivity, and team happiness?

DAS Architects

The layout of the office was designed to support the various departments’ different ways of working, both collaboratively and privately, so the office is largely an open plan with visual transparency plus some privacy partitions, meeting “pods” placed between department areas, private offices and larger collaborative areas along the perimeter of the space.

The interior space is energized by two large skylights that allow for sunlight and sky views in every area of the office as one moves through the workspaces. The shapes mirror the angled lines of the 3D spaces below with dynamic changes of natural light as the workday progresses.

What does the space do best?

DAS Architects

The large custom skylights allow natural light in the office and energize the space and everyone in it.

What went into choosing the colors and materials for the office’s decor?

DAS Architects

Clean, basic neutrals and vibrant colors, subtle textures, readily available materials, and unexpected angles to animate the space.

What is your favorite part of this office?

DAS Architects

It’s hard to respond with one favorite it part. It would either be the re-purposing of the trusses into a dramatic sculpture from the Boyd’s theatre or the impressive skylights.
