Formerly known as the U.S. Oil Building, 26 Broadway, New York, NY 10004 is located on the corner of Whitehall St and Beaver St. Completed in 1924, the building stands at 31 floors tall and features over 802,000 square feet in office space for rent, make it quite a decent sized structure. Although an older building, 26 Broadway has undergone various capital improvement plans over the course of its life. The building stands in close proximity to the yellow, green, and red MTA subway line as well as the Staten Island ferry. Hundreds of different restaurants also pepper the surrounding neighborhood. The edifice’s proximity to the other office buildings that surround the neighborhood make this space ideal for an organization needing closeness to partner firms or clients. As a result, such excellent placement adds a significant amount of value for the building’s tenants. Originally owned by Standard Oil, the company sold the building in 1956. It is one of the first buildings in Manhattan to have setbacks and is topped by a pyramid modeled on the Mausoleum of Maussollos. The building was designated as a New York City landmark in 1995.
