5900 Wilshire Blvd is a 32-story skyscraper in Los Angeles. Constructed in 1971, the 132 m (433 ft) building is the second tallest building in the Wilshire Area, the tallest in the Miracle Mile district, and ranks as the 38th tallest in the entire city. The building was designed by William L. Pereira & Associates architect Gin Wong.
Located across Wilshire Blvd. from the LA County Museum of Art, the building houses tenants who occupy entire building floors, down all the way to executive suites. The Ratkovich Company acquired the 491,000 square foot building in December 2005 and began renovations.
The long term, $34 million renovation project was still in progress in mid-2008. By December 2008, the building became the west coast headquarters for Variety, an entertainment newspaper, and until late 2013, the building’s north face sported the newspaper’s name in bold red lettering.
