The Loop is the central business district of Chicago, Illinois and is an excellent place to start looking for commercial space for lease. Where does the name come from? The elevated railway system and cable cars that circle the city in a "loop."
The district is bordered on the north and west by the Chicago River, on the east by Lake Michigan, and on the south by Roosevelt Road. Famous commercial tenants include the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), the world's largest options and futures contracts open interest exchange; the headquarters of United Continental Holdings, one of the world's largest airlines; AON; Blue Cross Blue Shield; Hyatt Hotels Corporation; BorgWarner, and other major corporations.
Chicago has quite a famous skyline that features some of the world's tallest buildings. The Willis Tower, formerly known as the Sears Tower, is the second tallest building in the Western Hemisphere and stands in the western Loop in the heart of the city's financial district, along with other buildings, such as 311 South Wacker Drive and the AT&T Corporate Center. You can also find the famous Marina City structures in Chicago's Loop, as well.
