225 Liberty Street, formerly called Two World Financial Center, is one of the tallest buildings in the Financial District. The 44-floor, 645-foot tall building contains nearly 2.5 million square feet of rentable office space, and is the second tallest of the Brookfield Place office building complex. Designed by Cesar Pelli & Associates, the building and its domed roof are considered iconic examples of postmodern architecture. 225 Liberty Street connects to the rest of the Brookfield Place complex through a courtyard and the Winter Garden, which is famous for its 120-foot vaulted ceilings and exotic, imported trees (including 12-meter palm trees from the Mojave Desert).
Current tenants include but are not limited to Time, Inc., BNY Mellon, McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP, State Street Corporation, Hudson’s Bay Company, Commerzbank, Oppenheimer Funds, Inc., First Data, Thacher Proffitt & Wood, LLP, and France Telecom.
