SquareFoot is a marketplace that connects people with the office space they deserve. We do this by bringing technology and transparency to an industry that has historically had neither.
Founded in Houston and now based in Manhattan, SquareFoot operates throughout the country, helping businesses of all sizes find office space from New York City, Boston, and Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles, San Francisco, and everywhere between.
The SquareFoot Scholarship is a way for our team to support students passionate about real estate, technology, and entrepreneurship. Our application is open to current, first, second, and third-year students attending an accredited higher education institution in the U.S.
The essay submission deadline for SquareFoot’s $5,000 scholarship for the 2018-2019 academic year is October 30, 2018. We will announce our winner by December 1, 2018.
First Place: $3,000

We will publish the winning essays on our website. Though there will only be three winners, we may reach out to you about a summer internship at our NYC HQ!
In 1,000 words or less, write an essay about how technology will change the commercial and/or residential real estate industry.
SquareFoot is a venture-backed real estate technology company founded in 2012 with the mission of helping businesses find the office space they need.
As the $13 trillion commercial real estate industry undergoes major digital transformation, SquareFoot is strengthening its lead as the modern, tech-enabled brokerage for growing businesses and expanding into new markets across the country.
The company is headquartered in the Flatiron District of New York City, with an additional team of engineers based in Belfast, United Kingdom.
The scholarship application will occur once per year, with the annual application window open from July 1 to October 30.
First Place: $3,000
Second Place: $1,500

50% = Depth of idea and research
40% = Narrative & composition
10% = Grammatical accuracy
In order to be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:
*Absolutely no personal information submitted by students will be sold or otherwise distributed outside of SquareFoot.
* Personal information will be used to identify the author of each submission and to contact said author if selected for a scholarship award.
* Student submissions will also be reviewed to vet candidates for future internships/full-time opportunities. If a student is selected to move forward with one of these opportunities, SquareFoot reserves the right to use the personal information originally submitted to contact said student.
