Michael Colacino joined SquareFoot in 2019 as the company’s first President. Before joining SquareFoot, he served as president of Savills-Studley from 2002 until December 2018. Prior to that, he served as a consultant, strategic planner, and provider of specialized brokerage services.

His corporate client portfolio includes Time Warner, for which he served as the broker on its acquisition and development of the Columbus Circle site and on the company’s relocation to Hudson Yards.

For the first ten years of his real estate career, Michael was a programmer and systems architect for real estate and facility management software, and he provided systems consulting services for Merril Lynch, Citibank, Tishman Speyer, and Metropolitan Life.

Michael has served on the Real Estate Board of New York’s (REBNY) Board of Governors and the Advisory Board of the Zell-Lurie Real Estate Center at Wharton. Michael is a board member of the Harvard Alumni Real Estate Association. He has been published in Industrial Engineering, Real Estate Forum and Real Estate Review, in which his article “Monte Carlo Simulation: Stochastic Contracting in Landlord and Tenant Lease Portfolios” appeared. He is a member of the American Real Estate Society, which accepted his paper “Serial Probability Recursion as a Method to Assess Rental Rate Turning Points” for presentation a their 2017 conference. His interests include game theory and behavioral economics, and he authored a (sadly-unpublished) paper on both titled “Final Offer Arbitration, Game Theory, and Real Estate.”

Michael graduated cum laude from Harvard College, class of 1979. He has been on the faculty of New York University, from which he has a M.S. in Real Estate and from which he graduated first in a class of 180. In 2008, he received the NYU Real Estate Institute’s Distinguished Alumni Award. He has also studied operations research and statistics at the graduate level at NYU’s Stern School.
